What do you do when life gets messy?

I tried to write today and it all came out as gobbledygook. Not sure why, but nothing seemed to flow. Usually I can start typing and literally a few minutes later a bunch of words are on the screen.

But today, I’m off.

My house is messy and my life is messy. I have over 14,000 photos on my phone and thousands more in my computer. I have a 4 terabyte Lacie extended drive that holds thousands and thousands more.

Each time I write a post, I spend hours looking for photos that go with the story I’ve written. Which is why my house is a mess.

I have papers stacked high on John’s desk; some unopened bills to pay. I’m pretty sure the license renewal for my Vespa is in that pile somewhere.

I’ve taken over John’s desk!

Speaking of piles…

We have a day bed in our room that our granddaughters use when they come to visit. Right now it’s piled high with my clothes. Some are dirty and some are clean and all are wrinkled.

This is just embarrassing

I even found that cool summer dress I was wearing at the beach the last time the girls were here flung over one of the dining room chairs this afternoon.

Looks better on me than the chair

I made a delicious dinner tonight of wild sockeye, fresh asparagus and cauliflower rice, only we had to eat in the living room because the dining table is covered with…stuff.

The only reason the living room is fairly clean and organized is because I got a wild hair this afternoon and went down to World Market and bought a new jute rug. It looks great and is a step in the right direction.

Love my new rug

We had to move everything and haul out the old stained rug to bring in the new one. But at least the floor is clean underneath this one.

Things are a mess right now.

I’m not sure why, and how it gets like this. But I can’t stand another day of it. So, I’m going to put my computer away, take a deep breath and find some peace inside of me.

Once I have that, I’ll be able to create some peace around me.

When I’m in your situation, and I’m really not in the mood to clean up…I get some caffeine in me and play some upbeat music and get to it! Within a few hours – you’ll feel like a new person, accomplished with a clean house! Then reward yourself with a nice walk.

Great idea Cindy. At the laundromat now, doing step one of clean up (with a flat white coconut milk coffee!) I have to get organized today!!

The mess just seems to accumulate so fast, doesn’t it? When my world gets like that I seem to get the point that my brain snaps & if I don’t organize right that moment my head will explode…lol! Even when I’ve got things in order, there’s always a few “hidden” spots that just always seem to be a hot mess. It does feel good once things are back in order though, doesn’t it?

It feel suffocating when it gets like that, doesn’t it. My kids room does my head in. To be fair, it’s two little boys sharing one room so they do a really good job. They just have so much stuff.

    But don’t we all?

Good luck with your clean up. 🙂

Thank you Wendy. I remember when my boys were little, it was a full time job keeping up with the house! I have no excuse now!!

Too bad we don’t live close by as I’d be happy to do your laundry! HA! I always use my weekends to regroup and get myself in order especially during the school year. I function much better during the week if I have a fresh start and things are where they belong!

Love you family room! It’s very inviting and cozy! Good luck sorting through things!

Thanks Julie! You are so sweet. I got 6 loads to the laundromat this morning, and have been tackling the house!

You found your peace! I read your next post!

Stepping away from the computer is the key.,

And that is what I am going to do right now!

PS I have been using The WordPress App on my phone for blogging. Wow! Makes blogging much more easier for me!

      Thank you, I did!

And good for you…we need to step away.

I can’t even imagine using WordPress on my phone! I’m such a fast typer, but not so much on the phone.

I can so relate. I always have so many irons in the fire, that I am always dealing with piles everywhere. By the way, I love your new rug.

I completely understand! Chaos around me equals chaos in my brain.

I love your living room! How is that jute rug? It looks awesome! Is it soft to walk on?

Your thoughts? I would love to hear from you...
