Hiking to the top of Inspiration Point

Yesterday I declared 2019 to be the year of the hike, and I jumped off the lily pad.

One of the best reasons to share my intentions with you is I’m then motivated to see it through. Thank you for that.

So in the spirit of putting my money where my mouth is, John and I went on a hike up Inspiration Point.

If you ever visit Santa Barbara, I highly recommend this hike.

Riding down California Highway 1 – Day 2

Sunday morning was relaxing after our fun night in Monterey. Saturday we walked to a little sushi joint called Ocean Sushi Deli – try saying that three times fast. It was nice to sit outside and enjoy delicious food and each other’s company.

We don’t wear any communication on the bike because we both relish the time to just be in our own thoughts and take in the scenery. So we chatted about the ride over sushi and sake.

Walking back to the Hilton, we caught the last bit of sunlight before it disappeared behind a rather thick fog bank.  Continue reading

Riding up California Highway 1 – Day 1

Weekend – Beach life

I grew up on the beaches of Lake Michigan and I have been a beach lover ever since. It took me a few years, as in 30 plus, to move back to a beach town.

And I love it.

I grew up on a beach and it's in my soul

How to plan for an event

Planning an event can be overwhelming for so many people. But with just a little organization, it can be fun and very rewarding too.

I’ve had a few people ask me how I prepare for an event, so I thought I’d share some of my secrets here.

It’s all about the “Book”.

The trade-off

I hate that I don’t have a dishwasher. We live in a house that’s about 120 years old. It’s a Victorian that got converted into apartments years ago. Our place was the main living area of the house. There’s a big living room with large pocket doors to the now kitchen.

The kitchen was not the original and has this one tiny countertop with one sink in it. That’s it. I had to buy an island so I would have a surface to prepare food on. Oh, and the bathroom…it’s right next to that one sink.
