Sometimes the journey is the destination

This past weekend, John and I decided it was time to get the big bike out and go for a long ride. The last few months have been chilly and rainy and we missed our fun outings on that big beamer.

So we packed a couple of overnight bags and since there was a thick marine layer lingering in the early afternoon, we headed up an over the San Marcos Pass looking for sunshine.

As we crested the summit, making our way through the fog it felt like we were riding with the clouds, and I was glad I had bundled up for the ride.

Weekend – Reading, Riding and ‘Rithmatic

I am so excited and honored to be reading one of my published posts for Santa Barbara’s Arts and Lectures Out Loud series. I’ll be at The Culture Club Sunday evening reading my post…#OutLoud.

But first, on Friday we snuck off for a motorcycle ride up the coast to Cambria. It’s a cute little coastal town and the perfect destination for a short ride. We stayed the night so I could go hunting for stones at Moonstone Beach today.

Our weekend is all about one motorcycle, two riders and hopefully several audience members listening to my story. I hope your weekend adds up to exactly what you want.

 

Attention Seeker – my daily commute

I’m one of the lucky ones. I get to live in a city that not only has bike lanes, but also the weather that inspires year round bike commuting. So I ride my bike.  I haven’t driven my car in months. Looking at the bank account, the last time I put gas in my car was August 21, 2017 and it was only $11.85.

It used to take me 30 minutes to get up to the gym, but I can do it in 15 now. My bike is fast! I’m getting good at banking the corners too, even with those skinny tires I have. At first I was too afraid to try it, but then one day I sailed around a corner and naturally leaned into it, and I was hooked. Continue reading
