Melting away

I don’t do heat very well.

Actually, I hate hot weather. Like, hate it. I have never liked being too hot and I can’t see that I ever will. I lived in Arizona for three years and couldn’t wait to move. Running from my air-conditioned home to my air-conditioned car to go to work in my air-conditioned office was not for me.

No wonder I love living in Santa Barbara so much – it’s usually about 72 degrees, year round. And that suits me well.

I drove up to Sacramento last Friday, in 100+ temperatures, and felt like I was wilting the entire way. Of course it didn’t help that the AC in my car isn’t exactly blowing out cold air. Pretty sure it’s not even blowing out cool air.

And then Monday I drove farther north to Oregon to help my son out, not realizing they were in an “Excessive Heat Wave” warning. I’m definitely melting.

The day I arrived, my son said his truck needed some repairs, and with my help, he could fix it and save the money he would otherwise shell out to a mechanic. We worked on it for a good part of the day.

That is until the tools got so hot we could not longer touch them.

I’ll admit, I did take a lot of breaks to go cool off inside.

We didn’t get it finished, and will tackle it this morning, and luckily it’s only supposed to be 95 today (Ugh!).

But I am looking forward to getting back home where we all complain when it gets in the 80’s and there’s an ocean I can jump into anytime I am overheated.

Hopefully I don’t completely melt before I get there…

Its been super hot here too but I will take this because along with the heat I can swim, wear shorts sandals and eat ice cream. When Winter comes all that disappears except for eating ice cream.

72 degrees sounds like paradise! I’ll do the heat, but definitely prefer 70 to 83 degree weather. The problem here in Chicago is that we get that horrid humidity. But I try to enjoy it anyway, because soon we will have snow and cold! Great post.

      Thank you Tina.
I have been in Chicago in the summer and I agree with you! It is not only hot, but dripping humidity.

Look at you working on that truck! You go girl! I see the dog by your feet 🙂 As for hot weather, it is hard to bear at times but hot weather and summer time are my favs. The temps make my body feel better as I have arthritis and fibromyalgia.

      Thank you Dee!

I can’t imagine what it is like to live with fibromyalgia…I had a good friend with it, and she suffered so. Take care!!
