My brain hurts! But, that is a good thing because it means I had to stretch out of my comfort zone and learn new things. Personally, I’d rather be learning something new like surfing rather than learning anything new about website design.
But, I decided it was time for an update on my website. Finally!
I started my blog over two years ago and honestly, I haven’t done much to update or change it. Probably because I subscribed to that old adage, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!” It may not have been broken, but it sure was outdated.
For instance, I’m not The Countdown to 60 anymore.
When I changed my blog name, all I did was change the title and nothing else. Talk about lazy. So, here I sit learning a new theme, trying to understand CCS and where HTML’s go and why in the world I can’t add a photo to the top of just one page instead of all of them! Argh.
I sure would like to figure out how to put my logo over to the right instead of to the left. Is that too much to ask? Isn’t this almost 2020?
Okay, I’ll stop complaining.
What I wanted to share is that I am working on a new and improved website and I have no idea how to do that “on the back end” without everyone seeing it, so it’s out there like this!
Poke around and see what you think. As I said, it’s a work in progress, but it is a start.
And while you are at it, hit the subscribe button. I will be sharing some excerpts from my book, but only to my email audience.
With that, I better get back to work.

I think it looks great! One thing you might try if you still want to do anything else to it is get an intern from your local college. They might be able to help you for college credits. And they know everything! But I love it! Great job❤️
Oh that is a great idea, Kathleen!!! Thank you! X
It looks great! I love you logo of the lady (you, I’m guessing) with the parasol. Perfect.
Thank you, Wendy!! Yes, that is me. It is a sketch by an LA artist, Anne M. Bray. Xx
Oh, I did a total revamp of my art website last year, going from a platform that was all cozy comfy yet annoying (Adobe Dreamweaver, Adobe kept updating the software and making it more and more complex). I transitioned to WordPress with eCommerce which I have not yet conquered at all. So don’t feel bad. I’ve done my own website since 1998, so I’m no newbie to the concept, but eeesh, WordPress is no walk in the park. My web host helped me through the steps of creating a temporary “creation/experimentation” site, I use a small company based in Canada and don’t mind paying a little extra for the service.
Most of my blogs are on Blogger, which I can work in my sleep, but Blogger has the worst “Search” function ever.
Love your pained expression in the closing photo. That pretty much sums up the experience for me too.
I’ll put the art website as my link this time. And oh geez, I have to update the home page because it’s full of art exhibitions that are over. It never ends.
Anne, thank you for stopping by!! Did you see that awesome drawing on my site? 😉 I need to add your link to the photo so you get credit for it, my friend.
Yeah, I have no idea what happened but WP has gotten more difficult instead of easier. I’m glad I’m not alone in this battle! And, you are so right…it never ends!
Xx
Good Luck! Keep working at it. It makes us stretch our brains!
Thank you, Nancy!! Xx
Girl…SPEAKIN’ my language! I know…I’m so poking aROUND on my own, name change, tag line, pages, forms, photo tags, ALL of it…we CAN do this!
Geri, glad I am in such good company!!! Thank you!
Ah, learning how to be a web designer by force. I love it. Join us, Loretta. 🙂 I actually love the fact that I can now call myself a self-proclaimed web designer! The learning curve was unbelievable and I can’t believe I only started two years ago. I feel a great deal of satisfaction knowing that I learned a skill that others just cower at.
I thought I subscribed but I’ve never gotten any. I’ll have to do it again
XOXO
Jodie
I tried to subscribe but it said error???
Or is it because I am already subscribed to old blog. Yes that is it….I am getting posts anyway…
It’s looking good, Loretta!
I know what you’re going through. I had a personal blog for years using Blogger. I wanted to center my title heading and had to google, youtube, and everything else to figure it out. Surprisingly, it wasn’t too complicated.
What I did, was to create another blog and experimented on it and then applied the changes after I was sure it was what I wanted. It was easy to do this with Blogger. I don’t know what platform you’re using and if that would work for you.
Oh my gosh, this is an excellent idea, Anita!! Thank you for that tip!! Xx
