You can do something to prevent Alzheimer’s.
Last week I posted an interesting article about the importance of sleeping in the dark for mental health. I mentioned that sleep is one of my favorite things to do, and it turns out deep sleep is also important for our brains.
My husband’s father had Alzheimer’s and now his mother has it. Because of this, we read just about everything we can about the disease and how to prevent it. I came across this TED post and found it very interesting.
Did you know if you create different pathways to an event or memory, you will have a better chance at recalling that event if plaque damages connections? If Alzheimer’s has affected you, I would highly recommend reading this article.
I’ve read before that learning a new language as an adult will help your brain create new pathways and synapses which will help as we age. I tried learning Gaelic a while back…I think I better get back on that.
